RobertTidwell Love Song For Polyhymnia update

You all probably thought I forgot about my comic Love Song For Polyhymnia, huh? You haven't heard anything in a while, right? Well. That's because life sucks and I seem to pick crappy people to work with. That isn't fair. Meh. Renzo is an amazing artist and a good guy. I don't know what happened to him but he disappeared and left me holding the bag. I don't want to trash him, he does AMAZING work.

RobertTidwell Ex Girlfriends and literary agents.

I dated a girl named Zenia several years ago. We had a pretty dysfunctional relationship because we both have mental health issues and we were young. I'm not going to get into her stuff too much, but when we broke up, I took it pretty badly. We never talked about our issues. When we eventually ended things for good, it hurt but there was so much dist

RobertTidwell And then I exploded.

So I've been out of it for a bit. My appendix exploded while in my body. This is not a good thing. I now have an open hole in my abdomen and I have to wait until it closes before I can really do anything that one would equate with living. I'll try and write again tonight. I haven't written in a few weeks, what with everything going on, and it is driving me crazy. I feel like my brain has been left on the shelf.

It hurts bad. I ran out of pain pills and need to wait until my

RobertTidwell The List

I live a very boring life. It's true. A friend of mine and I decided to come up with a list of things we want to do that we normally wouldn't want to do . Things that are out of our comfort zone and that put us on edge. This is my list and an explanation of why it made the list.

1. Get a Tattoo.

I've always wanted one but I can never decide on one. I get bored and change my mind a lot. It would be pretty awesome to commit to just one design. You c

RobertTidwell SkitzoXCore and the "Break Through Novel" contest.

The deadline is rapidly approaching and I am behind. I'm hoping to finish my second draft (which includes brand new chapters because I decided to delete the second half and rewrite them from scratch with a different plot) and a third draft by Saturday. Good luck with that, bucko! I hope I do though because the grand prize is money I could seriously use. It is an advance on royalties of $15,000. Hells yeah. I got a new mini HP Notebook thingiemajig from my aunt. She got it for free when she go… Continue

RobertTidwell Princess and the Frog

Musically, I think, my two favorite disney movies are the Jungle Book and now Princess and The Frog. The story wasn't great, it was a bit obvious at parts, but I cared about the minor characters, laughed at the jokes and found myself really digging the tunes. Most Disney movies don't do that for me. A lot of the complaints from the anti racist crowd are valid but I disagree with them. Maybe it's my white privilege getting in the way, but to break I'lll break down why I disagree. 1. The priContinue

RobertTidwell The Placebo Effect

Homeless J and I have been talking about a sci fi project that I'll probably end up writing while working on skitzoXcore revisions. The Placebo Effect is going to be a modern expansion on The Allegory Of The Cave and will mix in a story line not too unlike a theme found in the metal gear solid games. By the way, I've been playing Metal Gear Solid 4 since Christmas and have been fucking loving it. If you play video games you should give it a shot. Visually it is strong, the world is very complet… Continue

RobertTidwell Avatar

I'm going to write a lot about Avatar but first, understand that spoilers are located in this post and they won't really matter much because the story is very basic and rather generic. There are no suprises. But that isn't to say that the story is bad! On the contrary really. I loved it. The story is about the Na'vi people of… Continue

RobertTidwell Ouch

If you follow on twitter, facebook or myspace you may have noticed that I was in a car accident. I'm OK but badly bruised and pretty sore. It has been a few days and my neck no longer hurts but my stomach is still all purpley. Is that a word? Okay, anyway, here is what went down. I was taking my brother to work as I usually do. He starts at 11:30 so we had plenty of time. I was driving down Nogalas in the City of Industry. I pulled into the turn lane at San Jose and waited. There is no turn sig… Continue

RobertTidwell Nano is done.

Nanowrimo is done and I'm a winner. Woot. My story isn't entirely finished but from here on out it is pretty easy. Second draft will turn my terrible story into a moderately OK one, I hope. A few weeks ago I posted my wishlist for the holidays. On Thursday night we went to walmart and I stayed in line all night for a plasma Television because our TV had gne out. I met a few cool people and had a decent time. The socialist part of me felt very guilty so I read Kurt Vonnegut while I was there and… Continue

RobertTidwell I had a dream that white people were racist...

No, seriously. I dreamt that I was walking around town with Chris Rock and these women would walk up to us in groups. They were white women, and older. "I just love your work," they said. Chris Rock thanked them and smiled. "My favorite, of course," said one, "was Shrek." Chris Rock wasn't in Shrek, that was Eddie Murphey. Heh. Why do I dream that white people are so ignorantly racist? I don't know. I've been very lonely the past week or so and I'm not sure why. The Insane Clown Posse song Ver… Continue

RobertTidwell Nanowrimo and other junk.

A website added me to twitter. The site? An alt modeling website for women of color. Heaven, yes? It's day three of nano. I've written a little over four thousand words so far and instead of writing more I am watching the craft with the very very very lovely rachel true. The craft was that movie that came out in the 90s, with the witches. My novel is moving along OK but so far it is seeming lack luster. I'm used to writing fantasy and sci fi type stuff so having two people sit in a cafeteria a… Continue

RobertTidwell Magazines?

So, I don't know if you know this or not, but, I freaking love Tarot cards. I think they look cool, mostly, and they help me have a guided train of thought for meditation rather than just letting my mind wander. kinda accidently figured out the order of cards on my google app and now, I know what my results will be within a few cards each time, so I decided I want a tarot deck. I fucking love the Dave Mckean (mirrormask film, sandman comics covers, violent cases w neil gaiman) Vertigo Tarot but… Continue

RobertTidwell Gifts.

A friend of mine made a blog post that had what she would like to get for the holiday and I thought, I aught to make a list too. I don't expect to get anything, but it is nice to pretend, right? First up, books: Tarot For Writers by Corrine Kenner Kabuki - any of the graphic novels except book 4, Skin Deep, which I already own - by David Mack Accidentally Demonic by Dakota Cassidy House of Leaves by Mark Z. Danielewski Noir by Brian Azzarello (Author), et al. Musicophilia: Tales of Music and… Continue

RobertTidwell Reader Participation

So, because I love how Mark Z Danielewski incorporates reader participation, I want to do the same. Since I do not have readers, well, I'm asking you guys! Come up with make believe song titles. They can be any genre, any theme, by male or female artists, any number of words, any language, etc. Try to not duplicate already popular songs and be either serious or funny. Leave a comment with your song titles! Thanks! Continue

RobertTidwell Mainstream fiction?

Because I hate being called "mainstream" I refused to use this genre for my new story, skitzoXcore, that I'll be writing this November. On the NaNoWriMo.Org message boards, people in the "mainstream" fiction thread had decided that calling it People Fiction was better. This was a post I made. Isn't all fiction people fiction? I mean, even if you are writing about Lions like the comic Pride Of Baghdad, you are writing about relationships and how people interact. I think that term is way to geContinue

RobertTidwell You know you've been watching too much Fantasy when...

Last night I had a pretty bizarre dream. I walked under the neighbors home and fund a huge cavern where this Earth god guy, boomed and roared about how he was going to kill my niece because humans are horrible blah blah blah. I see that he has a daughter who is half human and explain that she actually caused what ever the king god guy was upset about so he says I can take my niece and go home. We do and then there is a terrible earthquake. I take my niece to school and there is a horrible tornad… Continue

RobertTidwell America's Next Top Model

My brother thinks the only reason I like America's Next Top Model is because of Tyra Banks. He's wrong. I'm not even into Tyra. What I do like about Top Model is simple. It is the only show on basic television dedicated entirely to visual arts. Modeling and photography are the main focuses on this show and you see them work towards creating the perfect image. You see the photograph take tons of pictures and how he tells the models to stand, how they choose to display their bodies and how, toget… Continue

RobertTidwell Writing Classes

This site was meant to be turned into a writing workshop but I never got around to it, which explains the URL. Last night I spoke with a very good friend of mine about how she thinks I need to go back to school. I am thinking of taking some creative writing classes at the local community college but what I really, really want to do is attend Clarion, the sci-fi and fantasy workshop. Clarion at UCSD. When I first heard about this course, it was in Octavia… Continue
